WELTANSCHAUUNG

This word is not translatable in the Italian language;Weltanschauung identifies an abstract concept that can approximately mean "world view," "world image," or "world conception." In the Buddhist and Hindu religious traditions, the màndala is a symbolic representation of the cosmos. It is often made by weaving threads on a loom, with powders of various colors on the ground, painted on cloth, frescoed on temple walls, or, as in our case, by a weaving of thoughts and words.

« In some remote corner of the universe, poured out and glittering in innumerable solar systems, there once was a star on which clever animals invented knowledge. That was the highest and most mendacious minute of “world history” — yet only a minute. After nature had drawn a few breaths the star grew cold, and the clever animals had to die. »

Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche | philosopher

Searching for the ultimate meaning of things is a human prerogative because man is the only living being to have an awareness (and obsession) of death. This màndala points out, quoting dozens of authors, how the beauty and magic of each existence lies not in the search for its ultimate meaning, but in the existence itself that responds to infinite random convergences that made it possible and unrepeatable. Dozens of writers, philosophers and poets are called upon to support the thesis stated in the center of the màndala: "Why must things have a meaning? Isn't it already 'magical' that they exist or happen?"

This màndala reveals how any existence can be mystical in the secular sense of the term, that is, "highly meaningful", as it is never totally knowable in its deep uniqueness. The meaning of each existence is not searchable a priori, but it is an individual fact defined by each individual choices.
